Travel to Split

Split is a wonderful seaside destination in Croatia and a popular tourist destination for a reason. This second largest city of Croatia, with just over 160,000 residents, is rich in history, dating back to the 2nd century BC and it really shows. Just walk around the Diocletian Palace which takes up most of the city’s old town and you’ll see what we mean. With beautiful cobblestoned streets, ancient Roman ruins and that breathtaking seaside view, Split truly is that picture-perfect postcard destination. But unlike many of its more famous city-siblings, Split isn’t drowning in tourism. In a way, it’s a perfect “split” of tourist destination with all the trimmings (amenities, services and comfort) and a walkable historical Mediterranean city in old-world Europe. In short, Split is, in our humble opinion, just perfect.

Bliss on the Beaches of Split

Nestled along the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, the beaches close to Split beckon with a promise of sun-soaked serenity and coastal charm. From lively hubs buzzing with activity to secluded coves framed by lush landscapes, the beaches of Split tell a unique tale of relaxation and natural beauty. While only one of the city’s beaches is sandy, the famous Bacvice beach, the pebbled shoreline and its many coves along the waterfront are as welcoming as they are gorgeous. And then there’s the many islands in shouting distance, each with their own character, beaches, cuisine and friendly local atmosphere. Don’t forget that Croatia has over 1,000 islands and islets, many of them easily accessible from Split. If it’s sun-kissed shores and crystal-clear seas you’re after, Split is your dream destination.

Split After Dark: A Vibrant Nightlife Odyssey

As the sun dips below the horizon, the city of Split undergoes a captivating transformation. The historic streets and ancient walls come alive with the colorful nightlife, and while those sunny days and gorgeous views are hard to beat, we’d go so far as to say the evenings are no less enchanting. From lively waterfront promenades to pulsating clubs hidden within historic structures, Split's nightlife offers a diverse spectrum of experiences. Whether you’re in for a relaxing cocktail on a romantic terrace or you’d like to party until sunrise, you’ll be sure to enjoy the after-hours allure of Split.

The Great Split Outdoors

Aside from the beautiful cityscape, the gorgeous views and the excellent party scene, be sure to indulge in Split’s excellent museums, such as the Split City Museum or the Archaeological Museum after visiting the UNESCO-listed Diocletian Palace. But save the indoor activities for a rainy day because the outdoors are truly great in these parts. The obvious choices for the outdoor enthusiasts are the water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing and kayaking. But there’s so much more. Cycling along this coastline is a dreamlike activity with unparalleled views and hiking in places like Marjan Forest Park is a wellness activity for mind, body and soul. If you have more time, check out boat tours, cave explorations and excursions to the gorgeous Krka National Park & Waterfalls. And before you leave, be sure to taste some of that delicious Croatian cuisine. This is, after all, a Mediterranean destination and we highly recommend foodies save some serious space for breakfast, lunch, dinner and all those snacks in between!

If you’re looking for something new, something unique, a truly beautiful destination that is both exciting and comfortable, check out Croatia’s gorgeous city Split and enjoy your well-deserved vacation.
